About Our School

The Natalia Kremen Ballet School
Was founded by Natalia Kremen in 2012 with only three students. NKBS has gone on to become a thriving school in the heart of Kensington and Battersea , with well over 100 students. NKBS is fully accredited by BDQT and is a member of ARBTA (Association of Russian Ballet and Theatre Arts) and the students work towards their internationally-recognized exams.

Vaganova Method
Offering classes in the Vaganova method to students from ages 3 -16, we hold classes for those who want to pursue ballet as a hobby for its sheer enjoyment and for those who want to consider ballet as a possible career option. The Vaganova method is a ballet technique and training system devised by the Russian dancer and pedagogue Agrippina Vaganova (1879-1951). Vaganova’s system is the natural development and continuation of the traditions of the Russian school of ballet.

School Philosophy
NKBS strongly believes in encouraging students in all aspects of dance, and in ensuring that they reach their full potential in a safe, enjoyable and caring environment. We aim to instil a love of dance in our students, and offer a wide range of classes to provide the complete dance experience.

Vocational Programme
We have a full vocational programme for students of 11+ who are seriously considering a professional ballet career. Participating in this programme is by invitation only. Students may audition from the age of 11 and their suitability for our rigorous training programme will be assessed. Our vocational students must commit to at least five days a week, although most opt to do the maximum six. This equates to a minimum of six hours and up to 10 hours of training per week, including classical training, rehearsals and audition classes.

Achievements
Our students were invited to perform with the Bolshoi and Maryinsky ballet companies on the stage of the Royal Opera House in 2014 and 2016. Students also attend galas and have the opportunity to meet leading dancers of world-class ballet companies, and participate in a professional-standard end of year performance, featuring dancers from the Royal Ballet and English National Ballet.

Faculty
All of our teachers are former professional ballet dancers, some having been principal dancers in the leading companies of the world. All NKBS staff are DBS checked.
