Alexander Muntagirov
Alexander is a People’sArtist of Russia, Professor, member of Moscow Theatre Union, member of the art council of ‘Ballet’ magazine, an honoured figure of art and culture of theKhanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Region.
Hehas been awarded with 1 Grade Sergey Diaghilev medal “For Service to the Arts” and received the ‘Knightof Dance’ Prize. The head of the Choreography Department of the Khanty-Mansiysk University of Art and Culture.
AlexanderMuntagirov graduated with honours as a ballet dancer from Perm State College ofChoreography (which has the Badge of Honour) where he was taught byprominent pedagogues and people’s artists: Yuli Plakht, Lev Asaulyak, IgorShapovalov, Lyudmila Sakharova. Muntagirov became the first performer of therole of Ostap Bender in the ballet ‘The Twelve Chairs’ (Ballet Master: A.Petrov, Moscow).
Muntagirov,as one of the stars of Russian ballet, presented Russian choreographic art inmany countries of the world. He was an artistic director of ChelyabinskOpera & Ballet Theatre and a founder of the annual Ekaterina MaksimovaFestival.
Beinghead of the Choreography Department of the Khanty-Mansiysk University of Artand Culture for 12 years he has seen more than 150 graduates of choreographyand dance. The graduates: choreographers, pedagogues, ballet masters and balletartists become the gems of the stages of many Russian Theatres.
Atpresent Alexander Muntagirov is involved a lot in social and charity work andhas his own festival called ‘The Knight of Dance Invites You’. He was the teacher of Vadim Muntagirov ( his son ) who is a PrincipalDancer of the Royal Ballet and one of the best dancers currently performing.
